The department of Energy’s reports the national average retail diesel fuel prices dropped 3.4 cents to $4.116 a gallon during the week ended Oct. 22; price is 29.1 cents above the same week last year.
The average diesel fuel prices fell in all regions except New England; prices were up just 0.5-cent in that region. The largest drop was 5.2 cents in California, which still holds the nation’s most expensive on average at $4.385 per gallon. The Gulf Coast region has the least expensive diesel on average at $3.999 a gallon and is the only region where the average price is below $4 a gallon.
