#DOE Reported That Diesel Fuel Prices Will Be Lower in 2014 and soon after announced they are being furlong off as part of the government shut down.
On Tuesday, the DOE announced that it expects the average price of retail diesel fuel to be $3.71 in the final quarter of 2013. #Diesel fuel prices are projected to average $3.93 in 2013 and $3.75 in 2014. Diesel prices averaged $3.97 in 2012. Additionally, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil is expected to average $98.69 and $96.21 in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
After getting what is good news for trucking companies about 2014, they learned on Thursday that the DOE will not be posting diesel fuel prices on Monday or Tuesday since Monday is a holiday because they have be furlong. This could be dramatic to trucking companies if there are diesel fuel price spikes.
Since no one seems to know and the government doesn’t seem to care, this could go on for weeks. See if the government cared both sides of the aisle would say F- this we are all Americans and we need to do what is best for our country. Instead, this is a Big D- contest that no one wins and everyone loses.
You can’t control the DOE not being their but you still can control how much you spend on your fleet fueling program. See if you had a solid fuel management program plan in place, you would be buying diesel well below the DOE anyway, so you would not really care as much if there was a DOE or not.
