Diesel Fuel Flying North

Diesel fuel rose for the third week in a row, rising 8.8 cents to $3.783, while gas prices also rose for a third week, the Department of Energy said Monday.

Gas prices gained 6.7 cents to $3.494, DOE said following its weekly survey of filling stations.

The diesel fuel increase left it 16.6 cents below the same week last year, DOE said.

This is the largest diesel increase in five months. I hope this does mean fueling cost are going back to where they were.

For three months diesel had fallen steadily, until two weeks ago.

Oil fell $3.69 Monday to settle at $88.14 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, the biggest decrease since Dec. 14, after a nine week high on Thursday, Bloomberg reported.

Each week, DOE surveys about 350 diesel fuel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
